I recently had some one ask me if this was a photograph of an instrument or a glass of wine. Honestly, it can be both. It’s really my Selmer Paris alto saxophone. True, I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University, where I studied art. But before that I spent many hours at Belmont University and the University of Kentucky studying music. Photography and art come first but music will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve heard it said the saxophone is the most expressive instrument outside of the violin. It has such a relaxing, smooth sound that soothes the nerves; takes the edge off. It’s got such a great tone I thought it may just as lovely in a BW photograph. Turns out I was right.
